Potty Training

Well we have started some preliminary potty training with Lucas. It's amazing because everything you read tell you to use lots of positive reinforcement. The problem is that in the first couple of days there is a lot of peeing on the floor, peeing on the ground outside, peeing on your clothes. Lots of peeing everywhere BUT the potty. It's hard to be positive when you are spending most of your day either in front of the TV while Lucas sits on the potty not going pee. Or the time spent cleaning up the pee. Yes Lucas it's okay, another accident, just let me scrub the floor one more time.

Luckily this evening we had our first break through of peeing on the potty. YEAH!! Darryl and I jumped so much. Gave all that positive reinforcement. Including the bribe toy we have been offering him for 2 days.

Now we have to wait for the second time....

How long did it take you to potty train?

Till Tomorrow........ Jenn

Yeah Lucas! It's always an exciting time when they use the potty as it's intended. I checked the boys books to see how they did training : Joey was potty trained at 3yrs 1 month in 5 days and Alex was potty trained at 2 yrs 10 months in 7 days. There have been the occasional mishaps here and there but very few and far between.

Mackenzie was dry after each night's sleep from just before 2 years old but she had NO interest in potty training during daytime hours.
She was almost 3 1/2 before she was fully potty trained during the day.
I learned pretty quickly with her that no amount of negotiating would convince her that this was a good idea. I had to wait until it was her choice.

Great start Lucas, I'm proud of you!

Yeah for Lucas!!! You're on your way...

Bea was trained in just a couple of days, but she has an accident every now and then. She was ready, so that made it easy.

Olivia took a little longer and actually has less accidents than her sister!

My nephew got potty trained when he turned 2. The daycare standard pottytrains the kids as they turn 2. Well they have to...at age 2.5 kids go to school in Belgium and have to be pottytrained.

I actually have not heard any stories from my sister (not from my nieces either) so seems to have gone quite effectively but I have no idea how it got tackled.
