March Round Up

As I blog Nathan's yearly news letter I realize I've fallen off this blogging wagon, I mean of course I have fallen off, that's not the realization, but the realization is my rope is getting thinner and thinner.  And I don't want it to, so I'm working to rebuild this rope....

Anyway here is March's roundup....

March was a good month, atleast it always ends well because of March Break!!  It's always nice to have a week where we can sleep in and not get ready for school and run around.  We do some fun stuff, like ski or go to the pool. But alot of it is just 'chillin'.

We also had our annual St. Patricks Day dinner, which someone bought a special green hat for!  And since we all know green is not his favourite colour I know this was a stretch for him.

We also got some big doses of cuteness in March.  First my sister got a new puppy who is so so cute.  Here she is playing with Lucas.  She is doing a really good job for my sister, learning what things to chew, where to go pee and how to play properly.  Luckily my mom is also very helpful with the dog too.

Our second dose of cuteness was going to visit our friends who just have twins.  Aren't these babies just the cutest!! And there is two of them!   Lucas loved the babies.  They also have a toddler who Nathan had lots of fun with, but Lucas just loved those babies.

March break was also great for spending lots of time with our best friend family.  It's amazing how well all our boys get along.  Whether it was in the pool or at the ski hill or at one of our houses there is always lots to talk about and lots of fun to be had.

Hopefully these pictures will be some of the last with all the SNOW!!..  It has been a pretty long winter, with not as many chinooks as we are use to.  Maybe that means we will have stunning growing season, but I am looking forward to wearing less hats and scarves and mitts.

Funny stories

A couple of funny stories from the boys from the week

Yesterday I asked Nathan is he feels any different now that he's six.
He shrugs and says "A little"
So I asked "how do you feel different".
He says "It feels like I'm floating".
"Really?"  I ask in intrigue.
"Yeah" he says.
"Maybe you are just taller now so you feel like you're floating" I try to reason out his odd answer.
"Yeah probably he's says.  "I am a lot taller now"

Ahh the joys of being six

And Lucas the other day was sitting at the island working on his homework and I was on the opposite side of the island make dinner, when Darryl came in the kitchen.  Darryl stands beside the island and starts telling me a story about work.  I can't remember what the story was but Darryl was using his hands to gesture a fair bit.  Of course Lucas hoping to procrastinate from doing homework starts to imitate Darryl's hand gestures.  It was hilarious.  It was hard for me to keep a straight face for any length of time for Darryl to continue while Lucas mocked him behind his back.  Pretty soon, Lucas and I were laughing pretty hard.

Ahh the sweet and entertaining life

To Nathan's on His 6th Birthday

Dear Nathan,

We've had a great couple of days celebrating your birthday, really we've had a pretty great year with you.  You are a pretty easy going kid who will be okay in most any situation.  Your favourite time is to be at home with your family, and sometimes you get sad when that is what you really want to do, but other then that you are a happy kid.  You will eat pretty much anything, although are in that stage where you 'don't like' a food, rather then saying 'don't want' a food.

You have a lots of big changes this year but have adapted to them all pretty well.  You graduated from preschool and Lesley, started kindergarten and gone to two new day homes.

You started kindergarten this year and it is one of your favourite things.  There you have come out of your shell and made friends with most of the kids and you love your teacher too.   You are speaking french more often and will ask Lucas or I to translate words for you.  You are also working on your the sounds your letters make and putting those sounds into words.

You and Cameron

You and your idol

Lucas continues to be your best friend.  You spend most of your time playing with him and even to your kid birthday party, a couple of the kids are Lucas's friends who you like to play with too.  Although the majority of them are yours.  It has been interesting to see you start school and develop new friends and new 'people' because of that.  Most of your interests are still similar to Lucas's as well, you both love video games, playing outside, karate, swimming and skiing.  But slowly we are starting to see you become your own person.

You are such a sweet, wonderful kind boy.  You are super affectionate and love to snuggle.  We lay in bed together and snuggle lots and you still love to sit on my lap.  You give your love freely, telling people all the time how much you love them.  You continue to have great facial expressions and say really funny things.

I feel very lucky to have you as part of my life everyday.  You add so much joy and love to it.  I love you bub, bub.
