Funny Boys
Also tonight, Nathan found a toy that wasn't working. He grabbed it and put it by the basement door. Then he came over and grabbed my hand and walked me to the basement door. I opened the door and put the toy on the stair. He got upset and grabbed my hand and started to walk down stairs. I grabbed the toy and we walked downstairs. At the bottom of the stairs I gave Nathan back the toy. He walked it over to the door to Daddy's office. He set down the toy( I guess I should specify that the toy is large) and opened the door. He came into Darryl's office found the screwdrivers and preceed to try and open the toy to put new batteries in it. He doesn't have the manual dexterity or strength to make it work, but I was still impressed. What a smart guy.

Monthly Newsletter: Month Fifty
This weekend you turn 50 months old, 50 months that sounds so so old. Maybe I should change it to 4 years 2 months. Yeah that sounds better.
This month has been a bit of a challenge for us. Last month I was bragging about what a great kid you were. The first part of the month was great, then you got sick and things went down hill from there. I'm not sure if it's lack of sleep or what but you do not want to cooperate at all. Most things we ask you to do, you fight it. Whether it's cry or kick your feet. Dad and I are resorting to different ways to discipline you. This week we tried to take away swimming lessons as that seemed to be something you really loved, but I'm not sure how effective it is.
On a good note. We went to the doctor and you are growing and learning just fine. Things continue to go well at school (when you are not fighting to go). It is helping you learn and develop. You love the songs and the crafts. It is showing us what a good colorer you are.
You have been saying some really funny things lately. One of your favorite sayings this week is "oh my gosh" We had snow this month as well. You oh my goshed about it all. But you loved the snow. We went out and threw snowballs and made snowmen and had lots of all around fun.
Well Lucas I hope the next months newsletter is better. Back to normal, please start co-operating.

A Good Cause
I got an e-mail in my inbox last week. It flattered me and wanted me to post something on my blog. This is not something I usually do. But the more I looked into it I thought it was a good cause. I don't know how many girls read my blog, but if you are a girl, or know a girl and would like a say in a documentary about being a girl. Here is some fun information for you:
Girls will have a chance to share their thoughts on what it means to be a girl in Canada and how they make a positive impact for girls around the world. Over the weekend we were able to tentatively confirm a second public filming event on Wednesday October 21st at Calgary’s Stephens Avenue Mall between 4-6 pm.
Once again I would ask that you share the Because I am a Girl campaign with your friends, family and readers.
If people are unable to attend they can still get involved with the Because I am a Girl campaign by visiting www.becauseiamagirl.ca
Speaking of being a girl, while on Twitter today Jann Arden posted this cool website. It is writing a letter to your 16 year old self. I've read through the first bunch of them and they seem to have a theme: It will be okay or it will get better. If you were to write a letter to your 16 year old self would you say the same? I would. Don't worry 16 year old Jenn, things will get better.

Sickness
My inital reaction about it and about any flu vaccine is that I get it, but I don't give it to my kids. The biggest factor for me is not giving my kids needles. They don't like it. Darryl doesn't get the flu shots as well for the same reason, he doesn't really like needles. The difficulty with all flu shots is there is no guarantee that it will protect you against any of the flus you may come into contact with. Plus I'm nervous that it is so new.
So I've been reading up on it. I've read a some bunch of articles about it and it's making me think we should get the boys vaccinated.
What about you, what are you and the family doing?

Two More Exciting Details I Forgot This Weekend:

Crackberry
But I am already loving the phone. I was already was an e-mail-aholic before hand. But now I have them in my pocket. I am also loving the texting. I had sent maybe one text message before this weekend, but just this evening I sent Darryl 3 messages, asking him about groceries, while I was grocery shopping.
Plus all the apps are great. Kids games, facebook, twitter, weather, restaurant finders, card games and that's just the first weekend. For any of you out there who have an iphone what is your favorite app?

Nathan's Monthly Newsletter: Month Eighteen
This week you turned 18months old. We did all of the 18 month "stuff". Doctor's appt's and immunizations. For your immunizations you didn't cry when you got the needle which was amazing. Even the nurse was so surprised That's never happen me before. But he was so fussy all night. When your immunizations were over you saw Grandma at work going to get one of her clients. You wanted to hug and play with her, but she was busy with work. So as her door closed to the back area, you went running upto in and banging on it trying to get her to come back out.
We started gymboree this year. Because you are the second child I haven't taken as many classes with you as I did with Lucas. We are changing that this year. Gymboree has been fun. We have also been doing lots of swimming too. The first couple of times at gymboree you a bit unsure, but you have warmed up to it quite a bit. I think your favorite part is the songs at the end. You enjoy the playing on the equipment before hand, but I think you miss copying your brother when it comes to the physical play.
Speaking of Lucas, you really really look up to him. You try to copy everything he does. Even though physically you can't do what he can do you always try. He'll swing off his bed, you try to swing off his bed. He does a dance move, you do a dance move. It is amazing how much you learn from him and how much you look up to him.
Sleep has not been going very well this month. We were hoping to get you back into sleep where you went all night and we could lay you in bed at night and walk away. But that didn't happen. You were teething or not feeling well, or I just didn't think it was the right time. So I have been up many times in the night and rubbing your back this month.
Things are getting better with the mommy love. You still are crazy about me, but don't cry when you go to the dayhome. Or when I leave you with Daddy or Grandma. It seems to be a better balance.
Well Baby, happy 18 months.

Breakdance
It made us all laugh. Then Lucas tried it as well, but he didn't do so well. He kind of wiggled across the floor. So Darryl asked Lucas if he was doing the worm. Lucas replied "It was an inchworm." Darryl and I laughed and laughed.
What a funny kid

Clematis
Well melting snow of course, but still some snow today. Yesterday we went and pulled out all of the vegetables from the garden. Most were done with the frost from a couple of nights ago, but we have lots of carrots (I may have to make carrot cake or carrot soup....). And we did get some corn, so we'll have to eat it and I'll let you know how it was.

Mouse Mohawk
" I gave the mouse a mo-hawk"
The cats have, or I should say had a green mouse and Lucas took it in the tub with him and spiked the mouses hair up down his back.
So funny Lucas
