Well our wonderful two weeks of Christmas holidays is all done. It was great to have some time off with the boys. All of the boys, Darryl had a lot of time off too. But as with all vacations it was always nice to go back too. Over the holidays we spent lots of quality time together. We did some swimming, lots of organizing and even more of this:
We also had good success with potty training too. It's so cute to watch Nathan get off the potty, he's so proud of himself and struts around.

Lucas Skating
I don't really like skating. It's not my favourite winter sport. As a kid I usually spent most of my time hanging onto the edge of the boards. So when Lucas friend Elliot's grandma, who picks the boys up from school. Offered to take the boys skating once a week I was all for it. The grandma was telling us what a great job Lucas is doing, so Darryl who does like to skate took Lucas to our community centre where you can skate for free. Here's how he did:
Much better then I do on skates, and this is only his fourth time. Glad to see he picked up Darryl's gene of being good at pretty much anything he tries.

My Dad's the Coolest
Look at the cool tobogganing hill Darryl made with the slope beside our house. He piled up the snow and banks it around the fence and the playcenter. He is a really cool Dad.

Weather
Today in Calgary we were the second coldest place on earth, only second two Antartica. That's right it was cold here then Siberia and the Artic and Alaska and all those all places you think of when you think of really cold places. It all started a week ago when the snow and cold hit with a vengeance. Outside we have about 5 feet of snow. When I woke up this morning, with the wind chill it was -40. Luckily on Thursday it will be -4, I can't remember the last time I was excited about -4. It's been at least a year =)
So we have been playing inside a lot. Tonight we were all coloring on the floor, later we did some karate moves (or I watched the boys do there karate moves). We also made more cards and I made a big batch of my favorite soup. We did go outside to go to swimming lessons, but we were well bundled. And spent a lot of time in the hot tub at the pool too.
One of the worst parts of the horrible weather and snow is the driving. I have spent a lot of time in my vanigan over the last week. It sucks because it takes up time for other fun stuff I usually do, like exercising and playing with the kids. Kudos to all of those who job it is to clear the roads. Once the snow finally stopped I noticed a real difference in the ice on the roads.
So that's the big news over here for the last week..... although I wish it wasn't....

ZooLights and Bowling
Darryl, myself and the kids all had the last week off to hang out and enjoy each other. I love my family and it is great to spend some time with them. We got out of our early morning and early nights routine. We stayed up and enjoyed each others company and slept in late in the mornings. That made this morning hard as it was the first morning back to regular routine, but I enjoyed the last week with my family. We went swimming, Zoolights, bowling, out for lupper and lots of fun playing with new toys. On a bad note my computer has taken another turn for the worst. I think I may need to order a new one. So if blog posts are not a frequent as normal it's becuase I have to use it in the kitchen and not at the couch. Here are some picture highlights of some things from last week.
Lucas and his friends bowling.
A great action shot of Lucas bowling.
Alexis and I warming up in some tropical plants at Zoo lights.

Nathan, Lucas and Lauren playing with some huge balls at zoo lights.
Walking through a lighted tunnel at zoo lights.
A lighted tiger/jaguar at night.
Warming up with hot chocolate at Zoo lights. It was a very very cold night.
Till Tomorrow.

Winter
Winter has come in with a vengeance just over a week ago. On the days I work my car feels like my second home. Spending a good hour to get to work and another hour on the way home. This week there has been the extreme cold temperatures too. -27 on Monday was just too cold. Poor Emma has not really been out for walks because her paws can't take the extreme cold. I did take her out tonight because it's only -15 out . The snow is higher then her belly but she loved jumping around in it and smelling for anything in the freezing cold. The boys are also loving the snow (when it's somewhat warm enough to go out). It will be fun once it gets even warmer and the snow will stick together. It will be a White Christmas out west.

Last Days of Winter (hopefully)
WInter in Calgary is never ending. It always seems to take forever for it to leave. We often have snow in April or May. Don't feel too bad for us though. We also have lots of warm days in the middle of the winter.
But here are some shots of the boys and Emma enjoying the last of the snow.
The kids playing on the toboggan hill. Darryl just went down it.

Lucas and Torin watching the kids outside.
Darryl may enjoy it all the most.
Lucas and Auntie Karen blowing bubbles.

Emma in the snow.

Fun Times Weekend
With the wind chill here it's about -47. Isn't that damn cold? It is so so cold here. So be glad wherever it is you live that it is not -47. Here are some tibits from the weekend:

- Friday Darryl and I went out for date night. It was so nice to have a dinner where we weren't interrupted or trying to pay attention to two conversations at the same time. Although it did make me miss wine.
- Saturday we started to decorate both Lucas's and the babies room. Paint, trips to Ikea, a productive Saturday
- We also got Lucas the Hungry, Hungry Hippos game, he adores it. Although I am trying to make it educational because he wants to play it all the time. It is loud.
- Sunday we went swimming before the deep freeze came
- Had dinner at my Mom and Dad and she made excellent lamb, although that made me miss wine too
- My gums have been so sore. I didn't have this problem with my last pregnancy. I'm getting to the point where I may go on a straw diet, if it doesn't fit through a straw I won't eat it.

Saturday in Pictures
Lucas and I were up at 6am this morning, after a actioned packed night for both of us. I was at a Christmas Party and Lucas had his friend over for a play. So neither of us were very happy. I was trying to sleep on the couch and Lucas was wanting an ice cream cone for breakfast. But after that the day looked up.
One of Lucas friends woke from the sleepover and Lucas had someone to play around with.
And even though it is -18 outside, Lucas is happy to bundle up and go outside for 10 minutes.
Then after waking so early Lucas feel asleep in my arms after lunch.
But we still had time for Lucas's first hair cut EVER! Now he looks like a little boy.
