Lost

My favorite shows usually consist of sitcoms and things that make me laugh. We love Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother. I don't really watch a lot of dramas or mystery or lawyer type shows. But one hour long show I do love is Lost. A lot of the time when I watch it I feel "lost". But often it makes me think about the "big" ideas in life, like what is the difference between good and evil or what is our purpose in life? One issue they have tackled this year is that people are part of your life no matter what path you chose. Whether your plane crashes on an island with people or you become a school teacher or a doctor, that certain people will be part of your life.

And although this is a theory I can't really test in life. I do wonder if that is really true. For example Darryl and I. There are different times in our lives where we could have met. When we were kids we were going to move to a community close to Darryl, but that didn't happen and still here we are. Or my best friend Tammy, her and I are both from Ontario. I wonder if we would have made different choices if somehow we would have still been part of each other lives.... Has this ever happened to you where you think what a small world, or that could have crossed paths with more then once?

Have you ever thought of this? Do you think it's possible?

Modern Family

This is Darryl and mine new favorite show. Most of the time we are laughing out loud. Here is one of the funniest lines.

''I'm the cool dad. That's my thing. I'm hip. I surf the web. I text. LOL: laughing out loud. OMG: Oh my God. WTF: Why the face?'' — Phil (episode 1)

That's all for tonight. I'm too busy watching Modern Family. Wednesday nights.

Glee

My new favorite show this year is Glee. My favorite part of it is the singing and dancing. I've always loved musicals so this show is totally for me. But I love the smartness of it as well. There are such funny and clever characters. They also take the music and use it to reflect the emotions of the characters. And they take new songs and old songs and mash them up.

Have you been watching? What do you think?

Things That Have Me Laughing All Week

Two things I have to record because I am still laughing as I sit here thinking about it.

First, the Office this week was hilarious with As-tird. Instead of Astrid, Micheal thought the baby would be Astird. Really could there be a funnier name.

Second, Lucas really needed a nap today, he was up early from a bad dream and even was saying he needed a nap. But of course he didn't really want to nap. We started on the couch, but he was just goofing around and then whimpering rather then falling asleep. So we went up to read books in Mommy's bed and fall asleep. Once books were done we both shut our eyes and tried to nap. Of course his eyes are almost squeezed tight, then after a minute or so you hear this quiet fake snore coming from him. It was too soon for him to be really asleep, so I burst out laughing. Which made him laugh and then we got the giggles. He would do the fake snore again and we would laugh and laugh. It made falling asleep impossible. So I put him in his bed without mommy to make him giggle.

How I Met My Mother

On Monday nights Darryl and I both enjoy some laughs while watching " How I Met My Mother". One of the characters is from Canada and they have some hilarious Canadian jokes. Tonight:

The boyfriend: I got us two tickets to the Bruce Springsteen
The Canadian: I love Bruce Springsteen, he's like the American Bryan Adams.

Hilarious!

Dora??

Lucas has become crazy about Dora the Explorer. We can watch other TV shows and he gets tired of them and plays or talks to me during them, or whines (which is he new favorite thing to do). But with Dora I don't even know he's in the house. I just don't get it. What is it about Dora?? Is it the yelling? Swiper? Is it becuase she "talks" to the her audience?

I think I'm going to have to invest is some Dora movies becuase my life in now revolving around when Dora is on TV. Oh, can't have my shower till 8:30, then Dora's on. Or oh we're having a showing I can do some cleaning at 3:30 when Dora's on. Oh gotta go, Dora's over. Are your kids crazy over Dora or is it so other show?

The Best Noises

Since I'm am a mother and cheap and slightly boring my Saturday night have started to be consumed by The Hills I don't usually go out on Saturday nights. I can go out, I just don't usually. So now I am crazy about The Hills, which CTV replays on Saturday night. If anything I am amazed at how stupid girls can be. Are all girls as stupid as Audrina is over Justin Bobby, or is it because it's reality TV?!? I do like Lauren, or LC. And the relationship with Heidi and Spencer is so easy to hate. Obviously the show does a good job of editing. But it is my new indulgence, that makes me live vicarioulsy through Lauren, Audrina and Heidi.

Although the best part of the episode today was when I could hear Lucas and Darryl through the baby monitor and Darryl was making Lucas laugh. Lucas would say, Daddy, do again. Darryl would do it again and Lucas would laugh hysterically. So even though I am cheap and slightly boring, I wouldn't change being a mother part of anything.

Thursday Night TV: Don't Read if you haven't seen the Office, Earl or Grey's Anatomy

Last night I enjoyed watching my typical Thursday night TV show. First off was My Name is Earl. It was great becuase it reminder me a little bit of my own life. It was about a guy who had died that was on Earl's List. To cross him off the list Earl had to give him a funeral, expect this guy didn't know anyone. Earl went to his apartment and turned on his computer. Which had funny phrases like his friends were behind the fish (which was the screen saver). And they though the computer was talking to them. Then they had a funeral with all of the dead guy's online friends. People gave funny speechs and used terms like LOL and BRB. Very funny show.

After that was The Office, probably my favorite TV show. On that show they managed to make Andy the new guy who got the old annoying guy fired, more annoying then Dwight, the old annoying guy. The funniest part of the whole show was when Jim and Pam played a prank on the Andy, the new annoying guy. They threw his cell phone up into the ceiling and then Andy was going crazy trying to find it. It was hilarious! I highly recommend this show, it's so funny. Plus I was so glad Dwight was back at the end.

Last but not least was Grey's Anatomy. Again, another great show. I cried my eyes out. George's dad died and it was so so sad. I'm even tearing up thinking about it now. They did such a great job. Poor George is now part of the dead dad's club. It made me think about all the people I love and how the day my father dies, may just kill me too.

It was just a great night to be a couch potato.

Thursday Night TV

Yesterday I settled infront of the TV for a good dose of Thursday night shows. Thre were so many to watch that even with time shifting I still had to flip, although anyone who knows me, knows that I love to flip.

So the new season of Survivor started, they divided the teams up by race, which doesn't surprise me. But I don't think it has accomplished what they expected. People did talk about it, but only for a bit an I think Survivors ratings will continue to decrease. I still enjoy the show, but don't mind missing it.

At the same time we were flipping between My name is Earl and The Office. Two very funny shows, if I have to pick a certain genre of show that I enjoy the most, it would have to be comedy. Both were hilarous and I was very glad to see the Pam did not get married. Although I do think the Office did go a little bit far last night. It was already funny, but they kept pushing it till it was not really funny anymore. All in all still my favorite show.

Also on last night was Grey's Anatomy, although there was some confusion with what episode was playing in Canada, compared to the episode playing on ABC. I mostly watched the episode on ABC and thought it was great, although it did make me cry alot. But a good release.

Yeah for September and all favorite returning shows.

Teletubbies

One of the joys of Lucas not being able to speak is that he cannot demand that I turn on the TV, or change the channel or that he wants to listen to his music not the Barenaked Ladies. Although I am sure there will be many years to come when he will demand all those things.

A couple of weekends ago Darryl commented on how much Lucas liked the Teletubbies. I have never put that show on for Lucas becuase I wasn't sure if I'd like it and for the moment he only gets to watch children's shows I can tolerate, Sesame Street for example. So on Saturday morning Lucas and I came downstairs and the usual Sesame Street was not on, so I decided to test Darryl's theory and see if Lucas liked teletubbies.

If you've never seen it Teletubbies is about 4 "aliens" who move around slowly and make weird sounds. There is a babies face that smiles and giggles in the sunshine and sometimes there tummies become little TV's that you may see a skit on. The show was bad. They played the same little video twice. They did count to 8 a bunch of times which was educational, but I had trouble tolerating it. Like one of the crazy aliens, I think the green one, spun around 8 times. Plus they all have weird names. I know some of the Sesame Street characters do as well, can't say I've ever heard of an Elmo before, but atlease most of the make sense i.e. Cookie Monster.

Lucas did like certain parts, although it did not keep his attention. Thank goodness for that. No more teletubbies while mommy is around. Long Live Sesame Steet
